If Christmas decorations give you warm and fuzzy feelings, a visit to Rolf’s should top your travel bucket list.
Every December, I head over to the snug German restaurant known for elaborate Christmas decorations for a festive meal.Despite being a native New Yorker a visit to Rolf’s during the holiday season attracts both locals and visitors.
The menu features traditional German food and a selection of beers and seasonal cocktails to help create a memorable experience. While waiting for dinner to arrive it’s impossible to not find yourself in the holiday spirit while surrounded by old-world themed decorations and lights. It doesn’t surprise me to learn that it takes several weeks for the restaurant to be decorated for the holidays. And since there is such a high demand to dine among the festive decorations the restaurant is fully dressed for the holidays by September.Reservations are taken for the restaurant section but you can also opt to wait on a very long standby line. Those of us who wait until December to raise a glass to toast the holiday season know that reservations are hard to come by.
If a holiday drink is more your speed, the bar at Rolf’s doesn’t disappoint. The restaurant is separated from the bar but elaborate decorations are visible throughout.
